'You loved the moody sound of Os Noctambulos debut LP and you wanted more? Well you’re outta luck ‘cuz what the band has to offer here are two ripping punk numbers. That’s right, till now the band only showed us their brooding facet, but their raw primitive side made it to the surface the time it took to make this sizzlin’ slab’o’wax. Fear not, though, you can still count on the awesome surf guitar, the hypnotic organ riffs and top notch song writing, but ‘Outsider’ and ‘Watching You’ are both furious, fast-paced and rocking about 100% more than any track on Corsica Garden.'

Christophe Lopez-Huici - Banana Magazine

The 7" was cut live in one afternoon at Swampland, Toulouse with Lo Spider producing in his infamous analogue studio. 'Outsider' & 'Watching You' are exclusive to this release and won't feature on the bands second album, to be released later this year.

From Boston Hassle

A year after releasing their debut LP, “Corsica Garden,” Paris garage rock group Os Noctàmbulos has released a new record entitled “Outsider.” Opting for a more anthemic edge to their songwriting, the two tracks on the record keeps your adrenaline pumping, if only for a short few minutes each. What the songs lack in length, they make up for in chunky rhythms and acidic licks.

Immediately striking in both tracks is the broad squeal of a Farfisa organ, which transports the listener back to the 60s. This overtone of retro psychedelia is joined by classic garage rock fuzz and plenty of attitude, mostly thanks to frontman Nick Wheeldon’s sneering vocals. The title track, “Outsider,” bursts into existence with a hypnotic organ and bass riff, accented by off-center guitar fills. When the drummer kicks in with the full kit, the track gets more amped up, though dissolutions back into a more trippy sound interrupt the straightforward progression. The second track, “Watching You,” follows a similar trend in its course. The part that stands out the most is the organ work during the chorus, which takes on an almost eastern lilt. In addition, a catchy interlude riff spins on itself, and increases the song’s energy tenfold. The abrupt ending is childish, yet perfect for the spunky anthem and the brief album.

The “Outsider” 7″ should hold fans over while Os Noctàmbulos works on their second full-length. These tracks won’t be found on that forthcoming release, but can be streamed and downloaded online. The hyper-cool album artwork, is also worth a mention. Completed by Brighton-based artist Martin Butler, the cover features a crazy-eyed eagle whose feathers meld into a city skyline. It’s not clear which induces more frenzy — the eagle’s expression or the fast-paced record itself.

From Rock & Folk (Juillet 2015)

From Raw Power Magazine

From The Active Listener

I've been a big fan of Nick Wheeldon ever since I was wowed by the masterful 39th & the Nortons album "On Trial" back in 2012 (available here for free!) - a perfect hybrid of mid sixties Dylan, the Seeds, and Gram Parsons.

Things have certainly changed musically for Nick since then; relocating from the U.K to Paris, Os Noctàmbulos was born and the Seeds won out over his other influences. Os Noctàmbulos' debut full length "Corsica Garden", was a moody, jangly piece of retro garage-folk/punk which successfully drew on the likes of the Seeds and the Dovers, and at the time seemed to represent the band firing on all cylinders. Shows what I know, as this new 7" absolutely blows "Corsica Garden" out of the water in terms of concentrated intensity. Both sides are primitive, snotty garage-punk numbers with huge Farfisa organs, out of control surf guitar shredding, and raw, on-the-verge vocal performances from Wheeldon.

"Outsider" is the more in-your-face of the two, quickly evolving from a hypnotic Farfisa riff into a raucous, hyperactive stormer, with an anthemic chorus and 110% attitude from all involved. "Watching You" starts out at the same frenetic pace, but adopts a spooky, minor-key approach, affecting an air of mystery which makes this the more long term favourite of the two.

A perfect wee 7". Maintaining this level of intensity over anything longer would be exhausting for listener and performers alike, but as it stands here - perfect.

And how about that great wraparound sleeve from early Active Listener Sampler cover artist Martin Ross Butler? Fab.

From Shindig! Magazine (Issue 48)

Oh yeah, well this here is a sterling effort from what is or who certainly are a pretty cool, and also a relatively new, rockin' little garage combo from France but who, rather curiously, have chosen a funny sounding Spanish language monicker. Whatever, 'Outsider' is a fresh, unrelenting three chord punk dancer that flies along at a fair lick and will, surely, have everyone up on their feet and diving all around the furniture before the singer has even uttered the first of many joyous whoop's heard throughout.

Anxiously buzzing guitars, on-the-button drums and those snarly vox help to catapult the songs directly to your brains and feet! There's a dash of organ squeal in there too for good measure. 'Watching You' perhaps has more menace in the overall performance, although it ain't necessarily as infectious or indeed as thoroughly compelling as the instantaneous topside. That said, however, this too is an effective beat blast so that both sides are not only worthy of your attention, but of your precious pennies too.

From The Styrofoam Drone

Following their debut LP released in early 2014 on Evil Hoodoo Records, French sneering rebels OS NOCTÁMBULOS have just released a brand new 7″ titled Outsider on Croque Macadam Records.

The 7″ contains two brand spankin’ new tracks that won’t be seen on their upcoming sophomore LP. They’re oozing with loud, organ-fueled riff-raff and crammed with a mind-warping dose of garage twang. It’s quick! At less than 4 1/2 minutes you feel like you’ve been taken through a graceful, time-traveling rock n’ roll tornado. Before you feel like you’ve had enough time to acclimate to the crackling pace, it’s over. Boo-hoo! For all of us that feel unsatisfied and abandoned we will just have to stay tuned for their second full-length due out later this year – we’ll get you more details on that later.

On another note, let your eyes get enveloped in the amazing album artwork by Brighton-based artist Martin Butler who has illustrated an eagle painfully melding into what appears to be a morphed city skyline. Whoa.

From Long Player Late Blogger

From Actiontime...And Vision

He's an outsider, yeah yeah yeah '

From Planet Gong

From Shadazz

From Le Bon Bon
